The Care Certificate is the national induction programme for people new to health and social care. It should be arranged and provided by employers during the new workers first 12 weeks to ensure that new workers are effectively trained, supervised and assessed to undertake their role.
The Care Certificate is the standard that people working in health and social care should meet before they can safely work unsupervised. Employers are responsible during the induction period to assess competence in the workplace and the care worker cannot work alone until this has been undertaken. However, the care worker can undertake any tasks alone once that part of the Care Certificate has been completed.
